BRPTO sets PPH request limit for IPC H04 applications
This Tuesday, September 30, the BRPTO published, in its Official Gazette #2856, BRPTO/DIRPA’s Ordinance #16, of September 24, 2025. The Ordinance outlines the criteria for accepting applications under Phase V of the PPH Pilot Project and revokes BRPTO/DIRPA’s Ordinance #3, of March 24, 2025.
Effective October 1, 2025, BRPTO/DIRPA’s Ordinance #16/2025 authorizes the acceptance of 800 PPH requests. Of this total, 140 PPH requests are allocated for patent applications under main IPC classification H04 for Q4 2025. The predefined annual limit of 3,200 PPH requests per year remain unchanged. The BRPTO has committed to publishing the total number of requests received on a weekly basis, allowing applicants to monitor the remaining capacity.
The Ordinance also states that the BRPTO will not consider requests received once the limit has been reached. This includes any modifications submitted together with the PPH requests.
