BRPTO announces quarterly limits for PPH applications in 2025
This Tuesday, December 24, 2024, the BRPTO’s Official Gazette #2816 published BRPTO/DIRPA’s Ordinance #26, of December 24, 2024, which sets quarterly limits for accepting applications for Phase V of the PPH Pilot Project.
Effective January 1, 2025, BRPTO/DIRPA’s Ordinance #26/2024 defines a limit of 800 applications for the PPH program per quarter and, in the first quarter, applications with the main International Patent Classification (IPC) of H04 will be excluded. This exclusion will be reassessed each new quarter.
The BRPTO will not consider applications received after the quarterly limit has been reached, including any modifications that may have been submitted together with the PPH applications.
For applications that have been rejected due to reaching the quarterly limit, a new application may be submitted in the following quarter, which must be accompanied by the respective supporting documentation.
