On August 28, 2024, the BRPTO published BRPTO/PR/CGREC’s Ordinance #4, of August 20, 2024, in its

website. This ordinance was also published in its Personnel Bulletin of August 21, 2024.

Ordinance CGREC #04/2024 provides guidelines and procedures for the technical examination of patent

applications at appeal level, standardizing the steps to “ensure the correct preparation of the technical

opinion at appeal level”.

The procedures are related to the Guidelines for Submitting Appeals and Post-Grant Oppositions

Procedures (Ordinance #10, of March 8, 2024), as well as Prosecutor’s Office Opinions #16/2023,

#19/2023, and #03/2024, and Rule #93, of June 10, 2013.
