As a result, the Manual will be identified by the date of the last update rather than by edition and revision numbers. This approach is already adopted in the Industrial Designs Manual since July 2024, and will later be adopted in the Geographical Indications Manual.

The BRPTO has also introduced changes to the Manual, highlighting clarifications on the cases in which express authorization is required to register names, signatures, or images as a trademark.
