On May 24, 2023, the Brazilian National Data Protection Authority(ANPD) published a statement to standardize the interpretation of the Brazilian Data Protection Act (LGPD) regarding the legal bases that authorize the processing of children's and adolescents' data.

According to the statement, the processing of children's and adolescents' data can be carried out using the legal bases provided for in articles 7 and 11 of the LGPD. The guidelines seek to dispel the interpretation that the processing of such data must, necessarily, be done with the consent of a parent or legal guardian.
