This age introduces the notion of a "Fourth Industrial Revolution", marked by deep automation across both physical and intellectual domains (e.g. ChatGPT). Central to this transformation are the information and communication technologies (ICTs), encompassing developments in technology standards for mobile networks, cloud computing, artificial intelligence (AI), datadriven automation, etc.

ICTs now embody every corner of contemporary life of nations worldwide, influencing not only economic growth and international power dynamics but also the routines and quality of life of individuals globally. In recent years, the rapid evolution of ICTs has redefined sectors like electricity and telecommunications, establishing new global hubs of technological innovation. Among these, Asian economies, particularly China, have taken a leading role, showcasing an impressive array of technological advancements. China’s technology giants, such as Huawei6, have redefined global standards, bringing innovations to the forefront and contributing to the expansion of smartphone capabilities and the refinement of semiconductor technology.

For a nation like Brazil, with vast geographical dimensions and diverse economic needs, ICTs present unique opportunities for elevating competitiveness and supporting national development. By fostering digital connectivity and advancing infrastructure in regions across the country, Brazil can leverage ICT advancements to improve its global standing. Components like computer hardware, networking infrastructure, and mobile devices become essential tools for linking distant regions and facilitating communication. Strategic national investments in research and development (R&D) within these technologies could position Brazil more prominently in the global market, strengthen its economic resilience and bring connection to all.
